Who started this effort and when?

In autumn 2007, actors including Ned Vaughn, Amy Brenneman, Stephen Collins, Arye Gross, James Eckhouse, Amy Aquino, Todd Waring, Peter Mackenzie, Kate Burton, James Arnold Taylor, and Ray Proscia held a few informal living room meetings. They were looking for a way to strengthen SAG and AFTRA by giving working members in both unions greater control over contract decisions. Different approaches were discussed, but one fact emerged consistently: working actors at all levels strongly support the idea.
